We are in the late throes of a magnificent autumn here in the Western Cape:

I am not sure if it was the wetter-than-usual yet hotter-than-usual summer, but the vines and trees turning red, yellow and gold have been particularly

spectacular this year.

Colour is a crucial element of a successful design. An autumnal palette can enhance a

publication design by infusing it with deep, enveloping colours that convey a feeling of

balance and calm. Colour and emotion go hand-in-hand. Combine colours that sit

opposite each other on the colour wheel, like orange and blue, to make your designs

pop – adding in neutrals like greys and creams to set an inviting tone that invites the

reader in.
